Sleep, stress, and the TCM view of regulation

By Registered TCM Practitioner & Acupuncturist

Sleep is rarely only about bedtime. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, sleep quality is often assessed alongside stress, digestion, temperature, menstrual rhythm, pain, and the ability to settle after a busy day.

A pattern-based view

Some patients feel wired and restless. Others feel exhausted but unable to sleep deeply. These different presentations may call for different treatment strategies.

Supportive care

Acupuncture, herbal medicine, and small daily rhythm changes may be used to support the body's ability to settle, recover, and maintain steadier rest.
